I’m currently studying to take The Menopause Society certification exam in June. Unfortunately, physicians receive poor training in midlife women’s health/menopause if they receive any training at all. But there are a growing contingent of physicians like me who are on a mission to learn and teach this medicine.
I published an article called “The Smart Man’s Guide to Getting Laid in Middle Age.” It was a clever headline to get men to read and care about peri/menopause. It’s been read over 11,000 times.
I was fortunate. I heard a podcast from Marie Claire Haver MD and she talked about estrogen. I learned about the directory that the menopause society had and I found a doctor in that network that listened to me! She prescribed me estrogen. As I was on it, I had some issues and eventually found out that I had a very large fibroid. It was too big to remove (no wonder I felt like shit) so they had to do a hysterectomy. It was a hard time but I made it through and I’m feeling so much better! The estrogen helps me a lot.
HRT gets a bad rap due to a faulty study done that doctors took to heart. Now doctors are using bio-identical hormones to treat women. I suggest reading The New Menopause. It really helped me.

You can find a Menopause Society certified clinician by searching this database. https://portal.menopause.org/NAMS/NAMS/Directory/Menopause-Practitioner.aspx
Awesome.
I hope more physicians follow suit.
The training they’ve received thus far has been woefully inadequate.
Maybe we can talk about the new training in a coauthored piece.
I would love to work with you on this!

Ha! Thank you! The struggle is real. It took me 3 tries to get the right hex color.
I absolutely love this post! Being in the Migraine space, I know all about being treated like a hysterical woman!
Thank you. [And booo to that.].
<sigh>
It’s not easy.
That’s why when you find a good doc, you have to hold on with both hands!
Exactly!

I agree. Dr. Haver is a goddess among women. Her work is so pivotal in the care and treatment of women. Glad you're feeling better!
Is there another way to download this other than to Google Docs?
It’s a PDF, so you should be able to pull it into Adobe, Powerpoint, Word, etc.
If not, DM me your email address and I’ll send it to you directly.
Mine went straight to Google Docs. :(
When it opens in Google Docs, hit FILE > DOWNLOAD> and pick the format and location.
That should save it locally as a pdf.
