The most cost effective way to purchase allulose that I've found is buying it by the gallon in syrup form on Amazon. We were originally going to add maple extract for a zero calorie syrup. Still testing that. But it's great in coffee. I use a Tablespoon per cup.
Thank you! Went straight one line and bought some! Do you thibk you can switch to using this in all baking? Your said you use it 50/50 in baking atm. Iwas sais recently because baking was one of my greatest joys but I didn’t want to be eating much sugar these days anymore. You said go easy with it at first with digestion?so maybe build up to baking with it? Hmm I don’t want to hurt people with my baking!
I can confirm this! Jackfruit is one of my favorite fruits and I noticed when I eat it every day, my body feels a LOT better and I always lose some weight in my mid-section, which is mostly where my body stores fat. I didn’t realize it had a different kind of sugar in it but Jackfruit is seriously sent from heaven lol
Nice article. Thanks. Small fact check: stevia isn’t artificial. It’s a leafy plant used as a sweetener in the Americas for at least centuries. Extracts might be called highly processed though.
My momma in law has been starting her day with figs and her blood sugar is perfect after! And she’s got type 2 diabetes. She heard it helps regulate blood sugar and was skeptical, but it seems to be helping her, at least. 😄
Sorry, one more question — how many does she eat each morning? I was able to find some at the grocery store but wasn’t sure if I should just eat one serving. I’ve been on monjauro and had good success with my A1C and losing weight but had horrible, horrible side effects.
Note: this isn’t medical advice… This is just one person’s experience. She is really good about following the diabetic diet and getting exercise, too, and I’m sure that’s made some of the difference in her ability to keep her blood sugar levels normal.
I’m post menopausal. I lost 4 dress sizes in 8 mos eating fish, chicken, salads, sweet potatoes, walnuts, avocados, olive oil snd fruit for my sweet tooth. I had 1 cup coffee in morning with light cream and sugar. I didn’t eat any diary or have snacks except fruit. The key is you have to want to this way. I know that sugar and bad fats are my enemy, so I stayed away.
You’re so sweet for mentioning me here! And an incredibly informative article!!
I ate 80% of the cheesecake, too!! Totally justified!
That sounds like me when I’m around it!!

I’d definitely start slow and experiment. They say it’s 1:1 with sugar, but I’d explore recipes to be sure.
Thank you. I will start small and see how my digestion takes ir. It says on the packet for baking too but yes I will go slow to be sure. Thank you!

Interesting, I have lost a lot of what I gained in midlife through a brute elimination of sugar in my diet. Not fun.
Anything that gives me some sweetness without the weird taste is very welcome!
It’s a funny thing with sugar. Once you kick the habit, you truly notice when something sweet is wayyy too sweet.

If it’s already in figs and raisins, I wonder if just adding more of those would help, too!
Probably not. They’ll both raise your blood glucose, whereas allulose doesn’t

Fresh figs or dried figs?
Dried

I apologize — they’re dates, not figs!
She has three. With walnuts as a protein.

Brilliant post!
This sounds fine, but honestly eating a good diet low in sugar and without bad fats in healthy portions will enable weight loss.
Until menopause
I respectfully disagree
You’ve experienced menopausal weight gain and lost it using a low sugar diet in healthy portions?

This isn’t a solve for many formerly fit, clean-eating women. Glad you’re having success with it.
How old are you, and are you on MHT?

I’m glad that has worked for you! Always good to clean eat and skip processed sugar.
But sometimes our bodies don’t respond to what always used to work.
Everyone is different, and we’re even different every 7 years or so.
it is cheating. and there is always a price to pay. it may be farther on down the road, but your body keeps score.
Just clarifying it’s not the same as erythritol?
An EXCELLENT article! Very INFORMATIVE!
Very informative and thought stimulating!
